Waiting On Wednesday (21): The Unfalling Light

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine.

This week I am waiting for:
The Unfailing Light (The Katerina Trilogy, #2)Having had no choice but to use her power has a necromancer to save Russia from dark forces, Katerina Alexandrovna, Duchess of Oldenburg, now wants to forget that she ever used her special powers. She's about to set off to pursue her lifelong dream of attending medical school when she discovers that Russia's arch nemesis--who she thought she'd destroyed--is still alive. So on imperial orders, Katerina remains at her old finishing school. She'll be safe there, because the empress has cast a potent spell to protect it against the vampires and revenants who are bent on toppling the tsar and using Katerina for their own gains. But to Katerina's horror, the spell unleashes a vengeful ghost within the school, a ghost more dangerous than any creature trying to get in.

Waiting On Wednesday (20): Scarlet by Marissa Meyer

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine.

This week I am waiting for:

Scarlet (Lunar Chronicles, #2)Cinder, the cyborg mechanic, returns in the second thrilling installment of the bestselling Lunar Chronicles. She's trying to break out of prison--even though if she succeeds, she'll be the Commonwealth's most wanted fugitive.

Halfway around the world, Scarlet Benoit's grandmother is missing. It turns out there are many things Scarlet doesn't know about her grandmother or the grave danger she has lived in her whole life. When Scarlet encounters Wolf, a street fighter who may have information as to her grandmother's whereabouts, she is loath to trust this stranger, but is inexplicably drawn to him, and he to her. As Scarlet and Wolf unravel one mystery, they encounter another when they meet Cinder. Now, all of them must stay one step ahead of the vicious Lunar Queen Levana, who will do anything for the handsome Prince Kai to become her husband, her king, her prisoner.
Let me just start of by saying: Cinder was flawless.  So I'm obviously super excited about this book!  Is it February yet???

Waiting On Wednesday (19): Princess of the Silver Woods

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine.

This week I am waiting for:
Princess of the Silver Woods (Princess, #3)
The third and final book of the Princess of the Midnight Ball series by Jessica Day George. This book features Petunia, and is roughly based off of Little Red Riding Hood.

I had to do this one today:)  I have literally been waiting anxiously for a cover to do it.  As most of you know from my excessive babbling over this author, I love this authors books.  I'm dying for this one.  D-Y-I-N-G.

What are you Waiting for today?

Waiting On Wednesday (18): Twice Upon A Time

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine.

This week I am waiting for:
Twice Upon a TimePirates and mermaids face off in this fractured-fairy tale sequel to "Half Upon a Time"!

Little mermaids and normal-sized pirates always create the biggest of problems. After the surprise revelations of HALF UPON A TIME, Jack, May and Phillip could use the help of a fairy godmother or two on their search for May's true identity. Only, there might be a snag: The entire Fairy Homelands have been put to sleep by an evil curse, and waking them could be hard. That's only if by hard, you mean escaping from the Land of Never, braving a merman-infested ocean to find a Sea Witch, then fighting alongside the pirate Bluebeard against an army of land-invading sharks with legs, all while trying to outwit one of the Wicked Queen's Eyes who seems to know your every move. So, yeah, a bit hard.

But what fun would an easy fairy tale be?

I recently read the first in the series, Half Upon A Time, and can't wait to see how the story keeps going, as it was one of the best Middle Grade novels I've read, and one of the best fairy tale stories I've read in a long time.

Waiting On Wednesday (17): Saphire Blue

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine.
 Sapphire Blue

This week I am waiting for:
Gwen's life has been a rollercoaster since she discovered she was the Ruby, the final member of the secret time-traveling Circle of Twelve. In between searching through history for the other time-travelers and asking for a bit of their blood (gross!), she’s been trying to figure out what all the mysteries and prophecies surrounding the Circle really mean. At least Gwen has plenty of help. Her best friend Lesley follows every lead diligently on the Internet. James the ghost teaches Gwen how to fit in at an eighteenth century party. And Xemerius, the gargoyle demon who has been following Gwen since he caught her kissing Gideon in a church, offers advice on everything. Oh, yes. And of course there is Gideon, the Diamond. One minute he’s very warm indeed; the next he’s freezing cold. Gwen’s not sure what’s going on there, but she’s pretty much destined to find out.

Why I'm waiting:
Seeing as I read - and loved - the first book in the series, a long time ago (mainly because the book is published in Germany and then translated to English) I CANNOT wait:)

Waiting On Wednesday (16): Vessel

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine.
This week I am waiting for:
VesselIn a desert land where serpents made of unbreakable glass fly through the sky and wolves made of only sand hunt within storms, Liyana is destined to be a vessel, to sacrifice herself so that her clan's goddess can inhabit her body... but her goddess never comes.
Why am I waiting for it?  I've only read on of Sarah Beth Durst books (DRINK SLAY LOVE) but it was amazing, and this book sounds amazing...and who doesn't love that cover?

Waiting On Wednesday (15)

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine.
This week I am waiting for:
Bewitching (Kendra Chronicles, #1)Kendra Hilferty, the witch who curses Kyle Kingsbury in Beastly, tells about her immortal existence-how she discovered she was a witch and the various ways she has used her powers to help people throughout the centuries. (Unfortunately her attempts have often backfired.) As it turns out, Kendra has actually had a hand in "Hansel and Gretel," "The Princess and the Pea," and "The Little Mermaid"-but these are not the fairy tales you think you know! Kendra's reminiscences are wrapped around a real-time version of "Cinderella," except the "ugly" stepsister is the good guy. With dark twists, hilarious turns, and unexpected endings, Bewitching is a contemporary read for fairy-tale lovers, fantasy fans, and anyone looking for more Alex Flinn.
A bunch of fairy tales + A beautiful cover + An awesome character + An author I love = I'm there:)

Waiting On Wednesday (14)

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine.

This week I am waiting for:
Just for Fins (Fins, #3)When Lily Sanderson decided to remain Crown Princess Waterlily of the mermaid kingdom Thalassinia, she knew she couldn’t just coast along in the current. But since she’s spent the last couple of years on land—with gorgeous human Quince by her side—Lily’s not sure she has the fins to lead a kingdom. Even her maddeningly pretentious cousin Dosinia seems to know more about ruling than she does.

But Lily has to dive in deep to keep her promise to Tellin, her mer bond in name only, whose kingdom is suffering in the changing ocean climate. Lily knows this is a seven seas–sized problem: from sea animals dying to oil spills and threats to humans. They’ll need to create some serious waves to make the mer community aware and get it to join together to make things right. Even if that means facing one of the iciest queens in the mer kingdoms.

Just when Lily thinks her double life on land and sea can’t get any more complicated, an ancient mer law might separate Lily and Quince after all. It feels as if the pair is up against a solid tsunami wave!

In this third installment in the series that began with Forgive My Fins and Fins Are Forever, Lily will have to find a way to balance safety and justice for the mer people as well as for the humans she loves.

Waiting On Wednesday (13)

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine.

This week I am waiting for:
Lucy (Daughters of the Sea, #3)
A choice between love and survival . . .
Lucy's family is excited to spend the summer in Bar Harbor, Maine. Her minister father is pleased to preside over such a prestigious congregation, and his social-climbing wife is ecstatic at the chance to find a rich husband for her daughter.
Yet Lucy wants nothing to do with the Bar Harbor social scene; she's simply excited to spend the summer by the sea, watching the waves from her favorite spot on the cliff. Despite having never gone swimming, Lucy feels an intense connection to the ocean, and meets a handsome ship-builder who shows Lucy a world she's never known, yet somehow always longed for.
However, her mother will stop at nothing to keep Lucy and the ship builder apart, even if it means throwing Lucy into the arms of a wealthy man with a dangerous secret. Can Lucy break free and embrace her destiny as a daughter of the sea? Or is she doomed to waste away in a gilded cage, slowly dying of a broken heart?

Why am I waiting for it?  Because the first two were awesome and I can't wait to see how this trilogy ends.  The first two left many loose ends and as this book is the last they will hopefully be tied.

This week I am waiting for:
The Fire (Witch & Wizard, #3)Whit and Wisty Allgood have sacrificed everything to lead the resistance against the merciless totalitarian regime that governs their world. Its supreme leader, The One Who Is The One, has banned everything they hold dear: books, music, art, and imagination. How can she and Whit possibly prepare for their imminent showdown with the ruthless villain that devastated their world-before he can truly become all-powerful?

This week I am waiting for:
Endlessly (Paranormalcy, #3)
The third book in the Paranormalcy trilogy.

The final chapter of Evie's adventures. Old friends, new ones, all wrapped up in impossible decisions. And some ball gowns. Because what's a life of normal and paranormal drama without a ball gown or two?

Why am I waiting for this?  Because the first two ROCKED!  I can't wait to see how Evie's story ends:)

Waiting On Wednesday (9)

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine.
This week I am waiting for:
Don't Expect MagicDelaney Collins doesn't believe in fairy tales. And why should she? Her mom is dead, her best friend is across the country, and she's stuck in California with "Dr. Hank," her famous life-coach father—a man she barely knows. Happily ever after? Yeah, right.

Then Dr. Hank tells her an outrageous secret: he's a fairy godmother—an f.g.—and he can prove it. And by the way? The f.g. gene is hereditary. Meaning there's a good chance that New Jersey tough girl Delaney is someone's fairy godmother.

But what happens when a fairy godmother needs a wish of her own?
Why do I want it?  Because how AWESOME does it sound!  Very, right?  Plus, just look at the cover.  There, you done?  You want it now, right?

Waiting On Wednesday (8)

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine.
This week I am waiting for:
Snow in Summer: The Tale of an American Snow WhiteWith her black hair, red lips, and lily-white skin, Summer is as beautiful as her father's garden. And her life in the mountains of West Virginia seems like a fairy tale; her parents sing and dance with her, Cousin Nancy dotes on her, and she is about to get a new baby brother. But when the baby dies soon after he's born, taking Summer's mama with him, Summer's fairy-tale life turns grim. Things get even worse when her father marries a woman who brings poisons and magical mirrors into Summer's world. Stepmama puts up a pretty face, but Summer suspects she's up to no good - and is afraid she's powerless to stop her.

This Snow White tale filled with magic and intrigue during the early twentieth century in Appalachia will be hard to forget.
I saw this book ages ago, thought it looked good, forgot about it, and then about two weeks ago saw it again.  I am a BIG fan of fairy tale retellings, and this one looks good!  Plus, I've heard good things about Jane Yolen, and the cover is beautiful!

PLUS:
I found the USA cover of THE TRAITOR IN THE TUNNEL by Y.S. Lee,  which was a pick in a past one of my WoW's!The Traitor and the Tunnel (The Agency, #3)

Waiting On Wednesday (7)

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine.
This week I am waiting for:
Fairy LiesIn this delightful sequel to Fairy Wings (originally titled Wings) the fairy princess Tamisin has been kidnapped from her home in the human world by Oberon, king of the fairies, who thinks he’s her father. When Tamisin’s boyfriend Jak finds out, he sets off to rescue her. In this funny and heartwarming romp through a land of fairies, goblins, sphinxes, unicorns, and many more, Tamisin and Jak try to regain their romance even as they find their way back to the human world.
 E. D. Baker is a master of the madcap world of magical creatures and she demonstrates once more that a clever girl who shows a dose of kindness, humor, and common sense can overcome almost any fearsome foe, no matter how magical!
I really liked the first in this series, and was pleasently surprised to find out there was a sequel!  Plus, how cool is it that is comes out on Valentine's Day?

Waiting On Wednesday (6)

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine.

This week I am waiting for:
Insurgent (Divergent, #2)One choice can transform you—or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves—and herself—while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.

Tris's initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors. War now looms as conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows. And in times of war, sides must be chosen, secrets will emerge, and choices will become even more irrevocable—and even more powerful. Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships, Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even if she does not know what she may lose by doing so.

New York Times bestselling author Veronica Roth's much-anticipated second book of the dystopian Divergent series is another intoxicating thrill ride of a story, rich with hallmark twists, heartbreaks, romance, and powerful insights about human nature.

I really like DIVERGENT, so of course I would be waiting for this!  Plus, the cover is really cool, much better than DIVERGENT's.

What are you waiting for?

I'm back!!!!  Well, maybe...  I am actually doing this to see if my computor still works, and decided to blog whilst doing so.  The only good thing about this computor malfunction is I caught up on my huge pile of reading.  I (seriously, no joke) read eight books and am currently reading GOLIATH (woo-hoo!!!) in three/four days.

And now on to the Waiting On Wednesday:

Waiting On Wednesday (4)

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine.
This week I am waiting for:
The Traitor and the Tunnel (The Agency, #3)

Queen Victoria has a little problem: there’s a petty thief at work in Buckingham Palace. Mary Quinn takes the simple case, going undercover as a domestic servant. But before long, a scandal threatens to tear apart the Royal Family.
One of the Prince of Wales’s irresponsible young friends is killed in disgraceful circumstances. Should the Queen hush things up or allow justice to take its course? Mary’s interest in this private matter soon becomes deeply personal: the killer, a drug-addicted Chinese sailor, shares a name with her long-lost father.
Meanwhile, James Easton’s engineering firm is repairing the sewers beneath Buckingham Palace. Trouble is, there’s a tunnel that’s not on the plans. Its purpose is unclear. But it seems to be very much in use.
These overlapping puzzles offer a perfect opportunity for Mary and James to work together again… if they can still trust one another. This is Mary’s most personal case yet and she has everything to lose.

I own the first two in this series and have been waiting for this one since Christmas. The cover shown is the UK cover, and this book in released in the UK, but will not be released in the US until sometime in 2012.

Waiting On Wednesday (3)

Waiting On Wednesdsay is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine

 This week, I'm waiting on:
The Son of Neptune (Heroes of Olympus, #2)
In The Lost Hero, three demigods named Jason, Piper, and Leo made their first visit to Camp Half-Blood, where they inherited a quest:
Seven half-bloods shall answer the call,
To storm or fire the world must fall.
An oath to keep with a final breath,
And foes bear arms to the Doors of Death.

Who are the other four mentioned in the prophecy? The answer may lie in another camp miles away, where a new camper has shown up and appears to be the son of Neptune, god of the sea...

I've been waiting on this book since I read THE LOST HERO last Christmas.
