In My Mailbox (8)

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted at The Story Siren.

In My Mailbox I have:
Tuesdays at the CastleTuesdays at Castle Glower are Princess Celie's favorite days. That's because on Tuesdays the castle adds a new room, a turret, or sometimes even an entire wing. No one ever knows what the castle will do next, and no one-other than Celie, that is-takes the time to map out the new additions. But when King and Queen Glower are ambushed and their fate is unknown, it's up to Celie, with her secret knowledge of the castle's never-ending twists and turns, to protect their home and save their kingdom. This delightful book from a fan- and bookseller-favorite kicks off a brand-new series sure to become a modern classic.

So so so excited!  I love this author and can't wait to read another of her FABULOUS books!  Seriously, you can't understand how much I adore this authors works!

Ruined by Paula Morris

Ruined

Rebecca couldn't feel more out of place in New Orleans, where she comes to spend the year while her dad is traveling. She's staying in a creepy old house with her aunt. And at the snooty prep school, the filthy-rich girls treat Rebecca like she's invisible. Only gorgeous, unavailable Anton Grey seems to give Rebecca the time of day, but she wonders if he's got a hidden agenda. Then one night, in Lafayette Cemetery, Rebecca makes a friend. Sweet, mysterious Lisette is eager to talk to Rebecca, and to show her the nooks and crannies of the city. There's just one catch: Lisette is a ghost.   A ghost with a deep, dark secret, and a serious score to settle.   As Rebecca learns more from her ghost friend -- and as she slowly learns to trust Anton Grey -- she also uncovers startling truths about her own history. Will Rebecca be able to right the wrongs of the past, or has everything been ruined beyond repair?

I'm not big on ghost stories.  Wait, let me rephrase that.  I love ghost stories, but only if they are good.  My mom LOVES ghost/horror stories, but she just likes the gore, and um, HORROR.

The reason listed about are what made this story was awesome for me!  It had a wonderful plot and amazing characters.  It definitely had some "scary" parts, but it was more of gross scary then horror scary.

You could also class this novel as a mystery, as there was definitely some mystery surrounding Lissette's death and Rebecca and her father's past.

One thing I didn't like about this book yet loved at the same time was to of the "filthy-rich girls" and their families trying to, get this, kill Rebecca!  I'm not going to tell you why, but it was weird, in both a good way and a bad.  It made the people seem much more evil then they were, but it also made them seem more real.  You'll just have to read to find out why;)

This book was very good, and the plot was a-mazing!  I loved the mardi-gras themes thrown in, and the ghost-ly aspect of the story was so sad!

I give this book a 4/5 and would recommend it to lovers of ghost stories, mysteries, with sprinklings of romance.

Market:  YA
Sensuality:  Mild
Violence: Moderate (because of Lissette's death)
Language: Mild (might be none, don't really remember)

Blog Hop (8)

Book Blog Hop is a weekly meme hosted by Jennifer at Crazy For Books.
Q.“What is your favorite Halloween costume?
Even if you don’t celebrate, what kinds of costumes do you like?”

Well, this year my brothers and I are going as Batman villains, as my youngest borther looks JUST (and I mean just) like the Heath Ledger Joker, albeit much younger.
One of my favorite Halloween costumes my family has ever done is the Scooby-doo gang many years ago.

I guess my favorite costumes are homemade ones.  If you choose the right costume, it almost always looks better homemade then not!

Happy Halloweening/Trick-or-Treating!

ALSO:  This post just happens to be my ONE-HUNDREDTH BLOG POST!  Everyone do a happy dance with me:)

Q. If you could have dinner with your favorite book character, who would you eat with and what would you serve?

Alrighty, because I have multiple favorite characters I would love to have over to dinner, I'm gonna do several examples.

1.  Harry Potter Gang, or if only allowed one, Hermione Granger:
In which I would serve whatever Hogwarts delicacies she wished, plus Butterbeer.

2.  Annabeth Chase (Percy Jackson and the Olympians):
Um, don't know her favorite food, but I guess a bunch of blue food in reminisce of Percy and blue brick cake for the best underwater kiss ever.

3.  Poppy of Westfalin (Princes of the Midnight Ball/Princess of Glass):
Once again, don't know her favorite foods, but as this is a period-ish novel whatever good foods were popular back in the 19th century.

4.  Samantha (All's Fair In Love, War, and High School):
LOBSTER!!!!!  Read the book and find out why! (plus I really love lobster {poor little lobsters}).

Okay, so there are so many more, but I don't ave the time or patience to list them all, so I bid you adieu:)

In My Mailbox (6) Kindle Edition (2)

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted at The Story Siren.

In My Mailbox I have:
RavenA girl, a coma, a Plague, and an empty grave.

When Shardaie wakes up, she doesn’t know who she is, why she can’t understand emotions, why she has been unconscious for nearly nine of her thirteen years, or why the dead just won’t stay dead. The only clue to her past is a locket, but the Plague, which finally stretches its unnatural hand to her village, forces her to leave and to learn to protect herself. But everything has a cost: the protection against the undead reveals a secret that Shardaie and her classmates just don’t want to accept, and at the end, Shardaie realises that some secrets shouldn’t be revealed. Secrets have the power to destroy, and the power to change her view on humanity for ever
.
I won this from the awesome Lulu at The Bookworm Is Here, and the equally awesome author of the book, Nuayma Jeggels.  I can't wait to read it, as it sounds AWESOME:)

Note:  I've noticed that in some IMM, people put what books they get from the library.  I go to the library every week, sometimes more, and get a bag load (and the bag is BIG) of books.  Sure, I won't read them all, because they might be ones I don't like, but I just don't have the time to put EVERY SINGLE BOOK I get in an IMM.  Sorry!

Waiting On Wednesday (8)

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine.
This week I am waiting for:
Snow in Summer: The Tale of an American Snow WhiteWith her black hair, red lips, and lily-white skin, Summer is as beautiful as her father's garden. And her life in the mountains of West Virginia seems like a fairy tale; her parents sing and dance with her, Cousin Nancy dotes on her, and she is about to get a new baby brother. But when the baby dies soon after he's born, taking Summer's mama with him, Summer's fairy-tale life turns grim. Things get even worse when her father marries a woman who brings poisons and magical mirrors into Summer's world. Stepmama puts up a pretty face, but Summer suspects she's up to no good - and is afraid she's powerless to stop her.

This Snow White tale filled with magic and intrigue during the early twentieth century in Appalachia will be hard to forget.
I saw this book ages ago, thought it looked good, forgot about it, and then about two weeks ago saw it again.  I am a BIG fan of fairy tale retellings, and this one looks good!  Plus, I've heard good things about Jane Yolen, and the cover is beautiful!

PLUS:
I found the USA cover of THE TRAITOR IN THE TUNNEL by Y.S. Lee,  which was a pick in a past one of my WoW's!The Traitor and the Tunnel (The Agency, #3)

I'd Tell You I Love You, But Then I'd Have To Kill You by Ally Carter

I'd Tell You I Love You, But Then I'd Have to Kill You (Gallagher Girls, #1)

The Gallagher Academy for Exceptional Young Women lives up to its name. Not only does this exclusive boarding school teach advanced language skills and correct deportment; its students also master the arts of tapping phones, hacking into computers, and spying in public places. At school, second-generation Gallagher Girl Cammie Morgan has impeccable credentials: She is fluent in 14 languages and able to kill an assailant in seven different ways. But recently life has dealt Cammie a card that she never anticipated: She has fallen in love with an ordinary boy who knows nothing about her exotic double life. A truly covert romance.

I'D TELL YOU I LOVE YOU, BUT THEN I'D HAVE TO KILL YOU (wow, that's a long title) is an amazing book.  It is witty, fun, and makes the life of a spy seem both fun and scary at the same time.

The way Carter writes this makes it seem like she has been a spy before becoming an author.  It is funny, witty and takes a unique spin on falling in love.

The characters were pretty good, I actually liked Cammie's friends better than her.  She didn't seem to have as unique a ersonality as all of her other friends.  However, she was a good character, and one a lot of girls (spy or not!) can relate to.

Since reading this, I have read all of the other books in the series that are currently out, and I must admit, this one is my least favorite.  In the series, it is definitel the least memorable, and Cammie's "fling" with Josh seems like it does not fit with the entire series.

Still, it was an enjoyable read that I'm sure most girls would enjoy.

I guve this book a 3/5 and would reccomend it to lovers of action, romance, and really cool spies.

Market: YA
Sensuality:  Mild; only some kissing
Violence: Mild; there's more violence as the series goes on
Language: None/Mild

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? (6)

It's Monday! What are you reading? is a weekly meme hosted by One Person's Journey Through a World of Books.

Goliath (Leviathan, #3)This Monday I'm reading:Alek and Deryn are on the last leg of their round-the-world quest to end World War I, reclaim Alek’s throne as prince of Austria, and finally fall in love. The first two objectives are complicated by the fact that their ship, the Leviathan, continues to detour farther away from the heart of the war (and crown). And the love thing would be a lot easier if Alek knew Deryn was a girl. (She has to pose as a boy in order to serve in the British Air Service.) And if they weren’t technically enemies.

The tension thickens as the Leviathan steams toward New York City with a homicidal lunatic on board: secrets suddenly unravel, characters reappear, and nothing is at it seems in this thunderous conclusion to Scott Westerfeld’s brilliant trilogy.

Yes, again.

Okay, so if you've been following my blog since August-ish, you'll know that I am obsessed with this book and was SO excited to read it.  And if you haven't, well, now you know!

Anyway, its still as good the second time!

Q. “What is your favorite type of candy?”

Can I say every kind?
I guess if I have to choose I'd choose a Milky Way or Peanut MnM's.  I <3 Caramel, Chocolate, and Peanut Butter!

I like pretty much anything with chocolate, so...once again, can I just say every kind?

A very Halloweeny question!  Oh great, now I'm hungry:)

Q.What superhero is your alter-ego?

My family is big on super heroes, but I don't think there is one enough like me to be my 'alter-ego'.

I guess my favorite super hero would have to be Wonder Woman.  I LOVE Greek Mythology, and her back story has lots (if not all accurate) Greek Mythology.

It would also be cool to be Batgirl, because she gets to work with Batman, who is, in my and my family's eyes, the best superhero ever.  He doesn't need powers.  Why?  Because he's just that cool!

Waiting On Wednesday (7)

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine.
This week I am waiting for:
Fairy LiesIn this delightful sequel to Fairy Wings (originally titled Wings) the fairy princess Tamisin has been kidnapped from her home in the human world by Oberon, king of the fairies, who thinks he’s her father. When Tamisin’s boyfriend Jak finds out, he sets off to rescue her. In this funny and heartwarming romp through a land of fairies, goblins, sphinxes, unicorns, and many more, Tamisin and Jak try to regain their romance even as they find their way back to the human world.
 E. D. Baker is a master of the madcap world of magical creatures and she demonstrates once more that a clever girl who shows a dose of kindness, humor, and common sense can overcome almost any fearsome foe, no matter how magical!
I really liked the first in this series, and was pleasently surprised to find out there was a sequel!  Plus, how cool is it that is comes out on Valentine's Day?

Sean Griswald's Head by Lindsey Leavitt

Sean Griswold's Head
According to her guidance counselor, fifteen-year-old Payton Gritas needs a focus object-an item to concentrate her emotions on. It's supposed to be something inanimate, but Payton decides to use the thing she stares at during class: Sean Griswold's head. They've been linked since third grade (Griswold-Gritas-it's an alphabetical order thing), but she's never really known him.

The focus object is intended to help Payton deal with her father's newly diagnosed multiple sclerosis. And it's working. With the help of her boy-crazy best friend Jac, Payton starts stalking-er, focusing on-Sean Griswold . . . all of him! He's cute, he shares her Seinfeld obsession (nobody else gets it!) and he may have a secret or two of his own.

In this sweet story of first love, Lindsey Leavitt seamlessly balances heartfelt family moments, spot-on sarcastic humor, and a budding young romance.

This was a really sweet book.  I have read and liked other books by Lindsey Leavitt, and this book was no let down.

This book has many concepts.  Yes, its a romance, but it is also about the main characters father having a disease, and how she deals with it, from anger to sadness.  It also deals with how Sean Giswald (whom from the tital of the book is obviously important) helps Payton.

This is a cute book, and makes for a easy read.

I give this book a 4/5 and would recommend it to lovers of romance and modern day fiction.

Market: YA
Sensuality: Mild
Violence: None

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? (5)

It's Monday! What are you reading? is a weekly meme hosted by One Person's Journey Through a World of Books.

This Monday I'm reading:
My Life Undecided
PLEASE READ THIS! MY LIFE DEPENDS ON IT!

Okay, maybe that was a bit melodramatic, but I’m sorry, I’m feeling a bit melodramatic at the moment.
Here’s the deal. My name is Brooklyn Pierce, I’m fifteen years old, and I am decisionally challenged. Seriously, I can’t remember the last good decision I made. I can remember plenty of crappy ones though. Including that party I threw when my parents were out of town that accidentally burned down a model home. Yeah, not my finest moment, for sure.

But see, that’s why I started a blog. To enlist readers to make my decisions for me. That’s right. I gave up. Threw in the towel. I let someone else decide which book I read for English. And whether or not I accepted an invitation to join the debate team from that cute-in-a-dorky-sort-of-way guy who gave me the Heimlich maneuver in the cafeteria. (Note to self: chew the melon before swallowing it.) I even let them decide who I dated!

Well, it turns out there are some things in life you simply can’t choose or have chosen for you—like who you fall in love with. And now everything’s more screwed up than ever.

But don’t take my word for it. Read the book and decide for yourself.  You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll scream in frustration. Or maybe that’s just me. After all, it’s my life.

Follow Friday (8)

Feature and Follow Friday is hosted by Alison Can Read and Parajunkee

Q. If you could have characters from a particular book meet and form and epic storyline with characters from a particular TV series, which would you choose and why?

My family and I watch a lot of television.  However, most are younger kid shows because a. I have two younger brothers and b. I quite honestly prefer that kind to others.  So I can pretty much just tell the basis of how the TV show should be...

How about the HP gang on a reality TV show where they have to do all those obstacles (Harry, Ron, Hermione, the Weasley twins for some fun, some Slytherins for some fighting)  but they can't use their wands?

Or how about Deryn from the LEVIATHAN series on Say Yes To The Dress?  This character HATES dresses, but maybe she would be forced to shop for a wedding dress by her mom or something, but she would by no means like it, making it funny:)

Whoops, I just noticed that no TV characters were mentioned...I'm a failure:(  Oh well!

Judging a Book By Its Cover (5)

Everyone's heard the saying "Don't judge a book by it's cover", but sometimes, you've got to admit you do. Judging A Book By Its Cover is a weekly meme hosted here at Lost In A Book where you can show books you judged by its cover, whether it's an awesome cover and an equally awesome book, a cover and book you didn't enjoy, or even a great cover, bad book, or bad cover great book scenario.

Sweet Venom (Medusa Girls #1)Grace just moved to San Francisco and is excited to start over at a new school. The change is full of fresh possibilities, but it’s also a tiny bit scary. It gets scarier when a minotaur walks in the door. And even more shocking when a girl who looks just like her shows up to fight the monster.

Gretchen is tired of monsters pulling her out into the wee hours, especially on a school night, but what can she do? Sending the minotaur back to his bleak home is just another notch on her combat belt. She never expected to run into this girl who could be her double, though.

Greer has her life pretty well put together, thank you very much. But that all tilts sideways when two girls who look eerily like her appear on her doorstep and claim they're triplets, supernatural descendants of some hideous creature from Greek myth, destined to spend their lives hunting monsters.

These three teenage descendants of Medusa, the once-beautiful gorgon maligned by myth, must reunite and embrace their fates in this unique paranormal world where monsters lurk in plain sight.
I honestly don't know if I love this cover or don't.  It doesn't seem to have much to do with the book, but it also is really pretty.

All in all, I'm giving the cover a 3/5, and I gave the book a 4/5.

Life As We Knew It by Susan Beth Pfeffer

Life As We Knew It (Last Survivors, #1)

Miranda’s disbelief turns to fear in a split second when a meteor knocks the moon closer to the earth. How should her family prepare for the future when worldwide tsunamis wipe out the coasts, earthquakes rock the continents, and volcanic ash blocks out the sun? As summer turns to Arctic winter, Miranda, her two brothers, and their mother retreat to the unexpected safe haven of their sunroom, where they subsist on stockpiled food and limited water in the warmth of a wood-burning stove.
Told in journal entries, this is the heart-pounding story of Miranda’s struggle to hold on to the most important resource of all--hope--in an increasingly desperate and unfamiliar world.

This book was depressing, creepy, sad, and...amazing.  Tragedy strikes the whole world, and there's nothing any one can do but try to survive.

Every time I would put this book down, for a second I would feel sad.  It was such a good book that I would feel like all of this had really happened.  Then I would remember that it hadn't.  Which would in turn make me happy.  Seriously, this book was one that would make you both depressed and super duper happy.

Miranda was a really good character, and it was nice to watch her and her family grow as characters.  In the beginning, Miranda was kind of a brat, taking everything for granted and fighting with her mom.  In the end, she still fought with her mom, but she was a stronger and smarter character.

The saddest part, and the happiest, was in the end.  Miranda leaves, knowing (knowing!) she was going to die, but she didn't want to in front of her mom, because she was afraid her mother would die to.  But then by some miraculous stroke of luck, there is a bit of an answer to their problems, and they still can live.  Not thrive, but survive.

I give this book a 5/5 and would recommend it to lovers of a survivor story, distopian, and people who enjoy a good end of the world story.

Waiting On Wednesday (6)

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine.

This week I am waiting for:
Insurgent (Divergent, #2)One choice can transform you—or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves—and herself—while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.

Tris's initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors. War now looms as conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows. And in times of war, sides must be chosen, secrets will emerge, and choices will become even more irrevocable—and even more powerful. Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships, Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even if she does not know what she may lose by doing so.

New York Times bestselling author Veronica Roth's much-anticipated second book of the dystopian Divergent series is another intoxicating thrill ride of a story, rich with hallmark twists, heartbreaks, romance, and powerful insights about human nature.

I really like DIVERGENT, so of course I would be waiting for this!  Plus, the cover is really cool, much better than DIVERGENT's.

What are you waiting for?

Haunted Halloween Story and Cover Contest

Hi!  So I'm entering the Haunted Halloween Story and Cover contest (which are two separate things) hosted by A Life Bound By Books and Confessions of a Bookaholic and you have to post the story and cover on your blog.  I made my story and cover go together, so I'm posting them together.

So here's the cover:
Okay, so I realise that its really fuzzy (sorry, don't know why), so I'll tell you what it says.  Obviously it has the name of the book, which is RED.  And in the bottom left corner it says "What if the stories....were true?  What if every year a girl was chosen...to die?  What if this year, that girl...was you?" and then at the top it says my name.  Here's a littler picture so you can see it un-fuzzy:

And now for the story:

Red
Where I come from, there is a monster. Everyone had laughed it off as a legend. And then the wolf attacked.
The wolf killed nearly half the town before he slunk back into the woods that border our village.
They say that the wolf is a curse, placed upon our villages founder after he killed a innocent girl. Now, every year, the wolf attacks. There is only one way to stop it.
To send a girl into the woods. And to have the wolf kill that girl. It is the only way.

The girl is chosen at random. Then she is sent into the woods, trying to reach “grandma’s house”, a cottage not far from our village. It is said that if the girl reaches the cottage, the curse will be broken and she will live.
But no girl has ever reached the cottage.
And this year, the random girl is me.

I said good-bye to my family, knowing that this would be the last time I saw them. I wanted to break down crying, but I wished to leave my family with a good picture to remember me by.
After the good-bye, I put on my red riding cape, and set of into the woods.
They were dark, and thick, and in a matter of minutes I couldn’t see the village anymore.
I wondered if they would be able to hear me scream.
The farther I walked on the path, the more narrow it became, and the thicker the woods grew. I heard a wolf howl from behind me. I didn’t know the wolf would come this soon!
I felt a pull on my cape, and for a second was worried that the wolf had caught up to me. A quick glance behind proved otherwise, as my cape had snagged onto a bush.
The effect almost looked like blood.
Suddenly, I saw the shadow of a wolf in the corner of my eye. I began to run, stumbling through the brambles. If only I could reach the safe house!
And then I saw it. Not the wolf, but the safe house!
I had made it! I was going to live! And the wolf was no where to be seen!
I quickly opened the gate, and ran to the door. It creaked open slowly. The inside of the cottage was horribly dusty.
“Hello, is anyone here?” I called. I heard a noise from one of the adjoining rooms, and went to investigate.
Inside on a bed was a woman. I could not tell if she was young or old, due to the darkness of the room.
“Are you the reason this place is called ‘grandma’s house’?” I asked, assuming she was elderly. The woman nodded. Something seemed odd about her. Her nose and ears were too long, and was that fur? But in the dim lighting, I could not tell. And then she smiled, canine teeth showing. I realized a second to late that the woman was in fact the wolf.
And then he sprang, his teeth tearing into my skin. I screamed, in both fear and pain. There was nothing I could do to stop the beast. He was much larger, and stronger then me. And I had already lost a lot of blood.
And as I lay there dying, I wondered how the wolf had managed to get to the supposed “safe house”. How many girls before me had reached the safe house, thinking they were free, only to find the wolf?
And how many more would come, only to have the same fate befall them as I?

I really had fun writing this, even though it isn't that scary.  I wish that the word limit was more than six-hundred, because I feel that I could have done so much more with the story if it was.  Oh well.

So please vote for me (if you like it)!  I really hope you do.  Voting starts October 16th, and you can get to it by going to the links above.

Follow Friday (7)

Feature and Follow Friday is hosted by Alison Can Read and Parajunkee
Q.If you could pick one character in a book, movie or television show to swap places with, who would it be?
A.  Can you say tough?  There are so many cool characters out there, but then again, there are so many not cool ones.  And in a lot of books, the cool ones die.

Of course, there are the really famous people, like Hermione Granger from HP, but they go through a lot of bad stuff, so maybe not.  The same goes for Annabeth Chase in PJO.  And then there are lesser known people, that most of you have probably never heard of, like Princess Poppy from PRINCESS OF GLASS and Agnes from WRAPPED.

So yeah, those are probably the people I'd choose, just as long as everything went exactly like it did in the book, so I wouldn't die, or something.

Another FaustI have to say, I kinda hate this cover.  The people are all spred out, in awkward poses, with wiered faces.  And it has NOTHING to do with the book, besides the fact that those kids on the cover distantly resemble the characters in the book.  The only thing I actually like about this cover is the moths.  However, I liked the book alot.
I give this cover a 1/5 and the book a 4/5.

The Son Of Neptune by Rick Riorden

The Son of Neptune (Heroes of Olympus, #2)

In The Lost Hero, three demigods named Jason, Piper, and Leo made their first visit to Camp Half-Blood, where they inherited a quest:

Seven half-bloods shall answer the call,
To storm or fire the world must fall.
An oath to keep with a final breath,
And foes bear arms to the Doors of Death.

Who are the other four mentioned in the prophecy? The answer may lie in another camp miles away, where a new camper has shown up and appears to be the son of Neptune, god of the sea...

This book was perfect.  Perfectly perfect.  Perfectly perfect perfection.

I didn't know how much I missed Percy until I read this!  The first in the HOO series was good and all, but not as good as this one!  It had old characters we miss (Percy, Tyson, Nico, Mrs. O'Leary) and new characters that I love (Hazel, Reyna, Frank)  and was amazing.

In this book, Percy doesn't know anything.  Just his name, and one other - Annabeth.  When he winds up in Camp Jupiter, he doesn't exactly belong...His fighting style is weird, and he refers to the gods in their Greek form.  But pretty soon he's on a quest with two new friends to safe...Death?

With fun twists and turns in the plot, connecting new characters as far back as to the PJO series, this book is  non stop excitement.  One of  my favorite things about this series, and its predecessor, PJO, is the witty, funny narratives.

Also, I just have to say it, I almost immediately knew who Hazel's godly parent was.

I give this book a 5/5 (can I give it a 10/5?) and would recommend it to everyone under the sun.

Market: YA
Language: Extremely extremely mild
Violence: Moderate, but no gore
Sensuality: Mild

In My Mailbox (4) Kindle Edition

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted at The Story Siren.

In My Mailbox I have:The Son of Neptune (Heroes of Olympus, #2)
In The Lost Hero, three demigods named Jason, Piper, and Leo made their first visit to Camp Half-Blood, where they inherited a quest:

Seven half-bloods shall answer the call,
To storm or fire the world must fall.
An oath to keep with a final breath,
And foes bear arms to the Doors of Death.

Who are the other four mentioned in the prophecy? The answer may lie in another camp miles away, where a new camper has shown up and appears to be the son of Neptune, god of the sea...

So I got this on my Kindle at exactly 11:59 yesterday night (a whole minute early!)  I have already read, like, 20% of it, and it.  Is.  Awesome!  HIGHLY recommended, so far!

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? (4)

It's Monday! What are you reading? is a weekly meme hosted by One Person's Journey Through a World of Books.

This Monday I'm reading:

The Final Warning (Maximum Ride, #4)In this breathtaking new story from the astonishing imagination of James Patterson, a girl has to save herself from an army assembled just to capture her-and maybe save the planet while she's at it.

Maximum Ride is a perfectly normal teenager who just happens to be able to fly, the result of an out-of-control government experiment.

Max and the other members of the Flock-six kids who share her remarkable ability-have been asked to aid a group of environmental scientists studying the causes of global warming. The expedition seems like a perfect combination of adventure, activism--and escaping government forces who watch the Flock like a hawk.

But even in Antarctica, trapped in the harshest weather on our planet, Maximum Ride is an irresistible target in constant danger. For whoever controls her powers could also control the world. Maximum Ride is James Patterson's greatest character, a heroine who manages to be human and fearless at once

I started this series on Wednesday, and simply love them!  Unfortunately, this is the last one my library has, so I have to wait for the next three to come on hold.  Oh well.  The only thing I don't love about this fourth installment to the series is that is is SO much shorter than the other three:(  But besides that, it rocks:):)

What are you reading?

Book Of The Month: October

Sorry this is late!  I've had a busy weekend, (well, not busy, but out of the house weekend) but here it is now!

And the book of the month is....

Okay, so this might not be the best book of the month, seeing as it does come out in only two days, but hey!  I'm excited about it!
